Entergy is building a 754 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
The new Vicksburg Advanced Power Station will cost $1.2 billion and is planned to be the largest grid upgrade the company has ever made. When complete, the plant will replace the decommissioned Baxter Wilson Steam Electric Station.
The gas-fired plant will house combined cycle combustion turbine tech, which will also enable hydrogen blend fuel use in the future if desired.
Entergy has recently announced two other projects in the state, including the Delta Blues Advanced Station in Greenville (to be completed in 2028) and the Traceview Advanced Power Station in Ridgeland (to be completed in 2029).
These projects are all a part of the Superpower Mississippi plan, which will make the grid more reliable while keeping customer rates low.
