It looks like the European Union is stepping up their AI game. The EU just announced InvestAI, a €200 billion investment in AI technologies.

This funding allots €20 billion specifically for AI gigafactories, including four future facilities across the EU. These factories will be the world’s largest public private partnership for the development of AI. Those involved are calling it “CERN for AI.”

The gigafactories will utilize roughly 100,000 last-generation AI chips, about four times more than current AI factories. The EU hopes this technology can help unlock difficult questions in medicine and other sciences.
